Low Range Off Road Components for Suzuki and Toyota Now Available at Summit Racing

Way out in the wilds of Utah, three brothers got into off-roading Suzuki Samurais in a big way. They decided there was a market for upgrade parts for the little Sammies, and Low Range Off Road was born.

The company makes parts for Samurais, Sidekicks, and their GM counterparts, plus upgrades for Toyota pickups, 4Runners, and Land Cruisers. Summit Racing carries a nice selection of Low Range Off Road parts for both, including these.

Body Lift Kits for Suzuki
These kits give you extra room for bigger tires, high-clearance skid plates, and added hood clearance for engine swaps. Long Range uses three inch O.D. solid spacers that cover more surface area, giving the body more support so it doesn't move on the frame. The spacers are drilled to the size of the stud adapter so that there is no excess play between the stud adapter and the spacer itself. The spacer washers are laser-cut from 1/8 inch thick steel plate, and have tight inner diameters to reduce play between the machined stud adapters and the washers.

Summit Racing has one and two inch body lift kits for 1986-98 Samurai, Sidekick, X-90, and Tracker, plus 1999-2004 Vitara and Grand Vitara. The one inch lift kits require no modifications to fuel filler necks, wiring, and steering sector shafts. One inch shifter extension rods are recommended for all kits.

The factory steering system incorporates proper Ackermann geometry so the inside tire turns slightly sharper than the outside tire. That keeps your tires from slipping or dragging, preventing excessive tire wear and providing superior traction off-road when fully locked or in a high traction situation.

The Align-Correct HD Crossover Steering Kits leverage Ackermann steering geometry by retaining the factory steering tie rod location. The kits are offered in three levels:

The Full Kit includes a steel steering arm; heavy-duty Toyota FJ80 Land Cruiser tie rod ends with jam nuts and cotter pins; 1/4 inch wall DOM tubing drag link and tie rod; Class 8.8 bolts and washers; and a tie rod taper reamer to accommodate the larger Toyota tie rod ends.

The Stage 1 Kit includes everything in the Full Kit except for the heavy duty tie rod. The Stage 2 Kit has just the Toyota tie rod ends and the tie rod. All kits are designed for spring-over-axle suspension setups, but will work on most suspensions with over four inches of lift using springs and shackles. If you’re running over seven inches of lift, a drop pitman arm may be needed.

Off-Road LRT Lift Kits for Toyota
Some lift kits for the Toyota Tacoma, Tundra, and FJ Cruiser require you to disassemble the front strut assemblies to install the lift spacers. Low Range Off Road LRT Lift Kits put the spacers on top of the struts, making installation much easier. This design does not pre-load the springs, either, so your ride quality doesn't go belly-up.

The spacers are CNC-machined from 6061-T6 aluminum instead of steel. Steel spacers tend to rust and flex, allowing the struts to move around. The spacers have Grade 10.9 pressed-in studs and serrated flanged nuts that are far stronger than the bolts used in other lift kits. Other features include:

• One inch tall, CNC-machined aluminum rear lift blocks, tapered to decrease driveline vibrations
• CNC-machined differential drop to prevent premature wear in CV joints and boots
• CNC-machined aluminum skid plate drop spacers and longer factory-style Grade 10.9 bolts
• CNC-machined aluminum bump stop spacers
• Rear spring U-bolts with OEM Toyota nuts

• 2007-18 Tundra, 3” front/1” rear lift, for tires up to 35”
• 2005-15 Tacoma, 3” front/1” rear lift, for tires up to 33”
• 2003-18 FJ Cruiser, 3” front/3” rear lift, for tires up to 33”

Defiant Armor Gas Tank Skidplate for Toyota Tacoma
Your Tacoma’s factory gas tank skidplate wasn’t designed to take serious off-road abuse. The Low Range Off-Road Defiant Armor skidplate is. It’s made from 3/16 inch thick plate steel that is CNC laser-cut and press-bent for proper fit, and fully MIG-welded in-house. Laser-notched holes allow snow, water, and debris to drain away. The Defiant Armor skidplate bolts in the factory location and comes in raw steel so you can paint or powdercoat it to your liking. It fits 1995-2004 Tacoma XtraCab and Double Cab models with 15 and 18 gallon tanks.
