MagnaFlow xMOD Exhaust System for Mustang GT: One Exhaust, Four Sound Levels

We know how it is. You buy an exhaust system for your 2018-20 Mustang GT. It’s nice and adds some power, but doesn’t have the sound you were looking for. You buy another one, and it doesn’t sound quite right either. Now you have two exhaust systems and you’re not happy.

You can solve this problem—or avoid it altogether—with MagnaFlow’s xMOD™ Series Exhaust System. The system is completely modular and assembles with quick-release V-band clamps. All it takes is a few minutes and an 11mm wrench to convert the xMOD to one of four sound modes using combinations of these components:

• Tru-X Muffler Module intermediate pipe with straight-through muffler
• Tru-X xTreme Delete intermediate X-pipe
• xTreme Bypass Valves, used to route exhaust flow through the rear mufflers or bypass them entirely

Here are the four sound modes and the parts combinations used to create them:

Stealth
Quieter than the stock system. Use Muffler Module with Bypass Valve closed.
Street
Aggressive, throaty growl. Use xTreme Delete with Bypass Valve closed.
Competition
The classic MagnaFlow performance sound. Use Muffler Module with Bypass Valve open.
Race
Straight-pipe sound with the rasp and pop of a chambered exhaust. Use xTreme Delete with Bypass Valve open.

What's even cooler about the XMOD's sound levels is how you can use them to adjust for modifications. For example, adding a supercharger, long tube headers, or other mods can alter your car's sound characteristics. If you don't like what you hear, you can change over to any of the XMOD's configurations and tune that sound to be music to your ears--and without any loss of horsepower.

But my Mustang has the factory Active Exhaust option, you say. No problem—you can create the same sound modes by using the xMOD’s Muffler and xTreme Delete Modules with the factory system’s Active Exhaust control valve. These MagnaFlow videos show you how the xMOD system works and what each mode sounds like:

• xMOD without factory Active Exhaust
• xMOD with factory Active Exhaust

Yes, the xMOD system adds more power, even in Stealth mode--16 to 18 horsepower and 15 to 16 lbs.-ft. of torque over stock using the factory ECU calibration. It also has MagnaFlow’s No Drone Technology™ (NDT) resonators that use passive noise cancellation to eliminate that annoying drone in the car’s cabin.

Like all MagnaFlow systems, the xMOD Exhaust System is made from 409 stainless steel with mandrel-bent tubing for excellent exhaust flow. The system comes with the Tru-X modules; bypass valves; dual Tru-X chambered oval mufflers; four carbon fiber exhaust tips; header connection pipes for use with aftermarket headers; quick-release V-band clamps; and installation hardware. It’s emissions-legal in all sound modes and is covered by MagnaFlow’s limited lifetime warranty.
