Make Better Repairs with Dorman’s Better Replacement Parts
There are some parts that are just a pain in the tush. You read the forums and see post after post on how this or that part is a known problem, then you wonder what the factory engineers were thinking when they designed the silly things.
Dorman knows all about those parts, and has affordable replacements to take care of the issues. Here are some examples of those Dorman parts available at Summit Racing:
Windshield A-Pillar Post Moldings for Ford Explorer
The exterior windshield A-pillar post molding for 2011-18 Ford Explorers are a single-use part. If you have to replace your windshield, you’ll need new molding. The plastic attachment clips are also known to break, causing interior wind noise or allowing the molding to fly off the vehicle. You don’t want to know what the dealer wants for replacements.
Summit Racing has you covered with these Dorman A-pillar moldings. They are test-fit on a real Explorer and just snap on in place of your old molding. We have molding for driver and passenger sides in basic black.
Oil Pressure Sensors for GM LS Engines
So you’re toodling along in your LS-powered GM car or truck and the check engine light comes on or the oil pressure gauge drops to zero. The first thing to do is get the vehicle home and check to see if the engine does have adequate oil pressure. If it checks out, the culprit is nearly always the oil pressure sensor.
The oil pressure sensors for Gen III and Gen IV LS engines are susceptible to dirt and oil sludge finding their way inside and causing a sensor to malfunction. The factory tried to fix the issue by installing a filter under the sensor, but sludge builds up in the filter and prevents oil from reaching the sensor at all. The dealer will want a pretty penny to replace one, too.
But you can fix the problem yourself by replacing the bad oil pressure sensor with a new Dorman sensor and following the recommended oil change schedule for your vehicle to keep sludge issues to a minimum. The sensors are available for 1997-2019 LS engines and come with a replacement filter.
Positive Battery Terminal for Ford
2007-11 Ford F-150, 2011-14 Ford Edge, and 2011-15 Lincoln MKX vehicles are known to have corrosion issues with the positive battery terminal. If you go to the dealer for a replacement, you also have to pay for a new positive battery cable because that’s the way the factory does things. The better alternative is to get a Dorman positive battery terminal. It’s an inexpensive solution that requires no crimping—the existing cable slides into the terminal and clamps in place. How’s that for easy?
