Make Your 1955-57 Chevy Stand Out with Gene Smith Quality Reproductions Parts
Your 1955, 1956, or 1957 Chevy passenger car project is only as good as the parts you use to restore it. Make yours stand out with Gene Smith Quality Reproductions parts. They’ve been making parts for Tri-Fives since 1973 so they have the quality down pat. Gene Smith is such a stickler for quality, they have trusted just one chrome plater for the past 30 years—and they sit right across the street.
Summit Racing carries a good selection of Gene Smith Quality Reproductions parts including these:
Taillight Assemblies for 1956 and 1957 Chevy
These taillight assemblies feature die-cast housings made and chrome-plated in the USA. Gene Smith uses the hot chamber method to die-cast its parts. Similar to how GM did it, the process involves heating both the dies and the metal to a certain temperature every time you cast a part. Hot chamber die-casting is slower than other methods and requires precision tooling, but the results are consistently high-quality parts that are strong and lightweight.
Gene Smith Quality Reproductions Taillight Assemblies come with lenses and gaskets made by Trim Parts in Ohio plus mounting hardware and light bulb sockets with pigtails.
Dash Trim Sets for 1955 and 1956 Chevy
We’d wager the factory aluminum middle-dash trim strip in your Tri-Five is looking a bit worse for wear after almost 70 years. You can spend time straightening and buffing it, or you can replace it with nice shiny trim from Gene Smith. They are exact reproductions of the original parts so installation is a remove and replace deal.
Gene Smith Dash Trim Sets are available in three versions—stock with radio cutout, with headlight switch/cigarette light holes but no radio cutout, and solid with no holes or radio cutout.
Heavy-Duty Front Sway Bar for 1955-57 Chevy
Most 1955-57 Chevy passenger cars did not come from the factory with a front sway bar (cars with the taxi and police packages did include one). The cars actually handled pretty well without one so most people didn’t miss it, and Chevy saved a few bucks per car. You could get the dealer to install one or you could get one from the parts department, but most owners went without.
Today we all know how much a front sway bar can improve handling and cornering, and you can correct Chevrolet’s oversight with a Gene Smith Quality Reproductions Heavy-Duty Sway Bar. The one-inch diameter, American-made bar uses GM factory-style hardened steel brackets for a factory look—no cheesy angle-iron brackets here. The bar works with disc brake conversions and Heidts control arms too. Grade 5 and Grade 8 bolts and bushing included.
Summit Racing carries other Gene Smith Quality Reproductions parts for your Tri-Five Chevy including emblems, front grille moldings, fin molding for 1957 models, windshield wiper arms, and more. We even have a repop of the factory accessory tissue dispenser.
