Make Your GM A-Body Really Handle with an Aldan American Coilover Kit
There is no shortage of suspension upgrades for 1964-72 GM A-Bodies. Aldan American’s Coilover Kits are some of the good ones. The kits replace the factory shocks and springs with an adjustable coilover setup so you can fine-tune the car’s handling and ride height.
Aldan American Coilover Kits use the OEM shock and spring mounting locations for an easy bolt-on installation that maintains the factory suspension geometry. The shocks are factory-serviceable and rebuildable for greatly extended shock life, and all components are made in the US of A.
Other features include:
• Ride-height adjustable up to two inches in front and three inches in the rear
• Front coilovers work with factory or aftermarket control arms and drop spindles
• High-tensile, chrome silicon steel coil springs for strong, consistent performance
• CNC-machined 6061 T-6 billet aluminum shock bodies
Road Comp Coilover Kits
Road Comp kits feature single-adjustable, nitrogen gas-charged shocks with multiple valving settings to fine-tune your ride and handling. The front shocks have six valving settings and the rear shocks have 11 settings for rebound adjustment. Adjusting rebound allows you to find the best compromise between handling and ride comfort.
Aldan American Road Comp front coilover kits are available with 450 lbs./in. springs for small block cars or 550 lbs./in. springs for big block cars. The rear coilover kits are available with 120-, 140-, or 160-lb./in. springs and have all necessary mounting hardware. Kits are also available with front and rear coilovers.
Summit Racing also carries Aldan American’s Track Comp Rear Coilover Kits. The kits feature double-adjustable gas shocks with 11 rebound and six compression settings. That’s 66 possible adjustment combinations to fine-tune handling, traction, and overall control. The kits are available with 120-, 140-, or 160-lb./in. coil springs.
RCX Coilover Kits
Aldan American RCX Coilover Kits feature double-adjustable coilover shocks offering 180 points of rebound and compression damping. The settings are controlled with easy-to-tune dial adjusters—an upper dial for rebound and a lower dial for compression—so you can tailor ride and handling to suit your needs.
RCX front coilovers are available with 450 lbs./in. springs for small block cars or 550 lbs/.in. springs for big block cars. The rear coilover kits are available with 120-, 140-, or 160-lb./in. springs and have all necessary mounting hardware. Kits are also available with front and rear coilovers.
‘Big Wheel’ Coilover Kits
Aldan American has you A-Body owners with big wheels and tires covered too. They make coilover kits that provide one to two inches of lift front and rear to clear 22- to 24-inch diameter wheel and tire packages. The kits come with your choice of Road Comp single-adjustable or Track-Comp double-adjustable coilover shocks so you can dial-in ride comfort and better handling with those big hoops.
Whichever Aldan American Coilover Kit you select, they recommend going with the 450 lbs./in. ‘small block’ front springs if you run an aluminum LS engine. If you swapped in an iron-block LS or have a supercharged engine, go with the 550 lbs.-in. ‘big block’ front springs.
