Banks Power has developed an electronic braking system that can be set to maintain consistent speed—reducing brake wear and giving heavy haulers some much-needed peace of mind. Think of Banks’ SpeedBrake system as “cruise control” for a vehicle’s brakes.

The SpeedBrake system uses patented speed control technology, which employs controlled engine braking to maintain a consistent vehicle speed. The system interfaces with the truck’s ECU to constantly monitor variables like vehicle speed, gear selection, and RPM. It automatically makes the necessary adjustments to maintain speed, even on steep downhill grades.

In fact, Banks reports that downhill speeds can be reduced by over 75% without the driver ever touching the brake pedal. Using the engine to control speed means that the brake components stay cooler. Cool brakes stop better and last longer.

Banks SpeedBrake Systems are plug-and-play, and come with the control module, full color display, and wiring harness. The display contains intuitive menus, making the system easy to set up and use. The interface is compatible with the Banks iQ engine monitoring system.

As an added bonus, the SpeedBrake System can be used as a diagnostic scan tool, giving truck owners the ability to read and clear diagnostic trouble codes.

Banks SpeedBrake Systems are available for the 2003-2010 Ford F-Series Super Duty Power Stroke, and 2005-2010 Chevy/GMC Silverado/Sierra Duramax.
