New at Summit Racing: BD Diesel TapShifter

Some new diesel trucks come with a tap shifter from the factory. With just a tap, you can manually shift gears, drop down a gear or two for better exhaust braking when going down a long grade, or engage overdrive when you want.

BD Diesel’s TapShifter provides that same transmission control for older Ford and GM diesel trucks. The supplied shift lever replaces the factory piece, and the control unit plugs into the stock transmission controller. Once installed, moving between forward gears is as easy as tapping +/– buttons.

The TapShifter for Ford comes with a dash-mount lighted indicator that shows the selected gear. It also has these other features:
• Built-in exhaust brake function that closes the turbo’s turbine housing vanes when the throttle is released
• Raise shift points 10, 20, or 30 percent
• Lower shift points 10 percent
• Default mode—normal upshifts, downshifts, and gear kickdowns
• Semi-manual mode—allows upshifts at very low engine speeds with no kickdown. Only downshifts when slowing to a stop
• Full manual mode—manually control all shifts and converter lockup in fourth and fifth gear

Applications
• 2001-05 Chevy/GMC 2500/3500 HD with 6.6L Duramax and Allison 1000 transmission
• 2003-07 Ford F-250/350 Super Duty with 6.0L Powerstroke and 5R110W transmission
• 2008-10 Ford F-250/350 Super Duty with 6.4L Powerstroke and 5R110W transmission
