New at Summit Racing: Quick Fuel Black Diamond Carburetors

It’s not every day that you can find a combination of outstanding performance and good looks like these Quick Fuel Black Diamond Carburetors. Quick Fuel gave its Q-Series and SS-Series carburetors a satin black PTFE Teflon® coating that is impact and scratch-resistant as well as impervious to underhood chemicals. The coating also helps reduce fuel temperature by six percent, which helps improve performance.

The Black Diamond Q-Series carburetors are based on a high-flow Proform aluminum main body with blended venturi areas to smooth out airflow, plus screw-in idle bleeds, high-speed air bleeds, and accelerator pump discharge nozzles. The carburetors have a billet aluminum throttle baseplate and CNC-machined billet metering blocks with four-corner idle system to provide more precise fuel metering. That improves throttle response and provides a more uniform fuel performance curve. Other features include   jet extensions and notched secondary floats. The mechanical secondary Q-Series carburetors are set up for drag racing and are available in 650, 750, 850, and 950 cfm ratings.

The Black Diamond SS-Series carburetors are designed for street and bracket racing use. The all-aluminum carburetors have billet throttle bodies and metering blocks, so they weigh five pounds less than typical die-cast zinc models. Features include replaceable idle feed, power valve channel restrictions, idle air bleeds, and high-speed air bleeds for excellent tunability. The vacuum secondary models have a solid-state electric choke and fuel bowls with single-sight glass windows. The mechanical secondary models have 4500-style dual inlet fuel bowls with dual-sight glass windows, plus additional links to tune the secondary opening rate.

If you have a small block Chevy, you can match a Black Diamond carburetor with Quick Fuel’s Black Diamond intake manifold. The dual plane intake has the same coating and is designed for engines making power from idle through 5,500 rpm.
