New at Summit Racing: SCS Gearbox Quick Change Gears
SCS Gearbox has been making high performance gearing since 1979. SCS started making gears for tractor pullers—machines that really put drivelines and axles through hell with tremendous loads right off the starting line. Today, SCS makes gears for circle trackers, pullers, monster trucks, mud boggers, and other specialized race vehicles.
Summit Racing offers both SCS Gearbox Professional Series and Sportsman Series quick-change gears in a wide variety of ratios:
Professional Series
SCS Gearbox Professional Series gears are made of 9310 aircraft alloy for maximum strength. The gears are crown-shaved (ground before heat-treating) to minimize backlash and runout, broached for proper shaft fit, and have a black oxide finish. Gear sets #1 through #28 are lightened where possible without sacrificing strength, saving an average of 1 1/2 lbs. over standard gears. The Professional Series quick-change gears get a five-step heat-treating process for maximum gear life in high-stress applications such as Big Block Oswego Super Modifieds, World of Outlaw Sprint Cars, and IROC Series Cars.
Sportsman Series
These gears are made to the same stringent standards as the Professional Series gears, right down to the five-step heat treating process. To keep them affordable, SCS Gearbox makes the Sportsman gears from 8620 alloy steel and does not lighten them. The gears are cut on CNC crown-hobbing equipment for accuracy.
