Oliver Racing Big Block Max Plus Series Connecting Rods Now Available at Summit Racing

When it comes to connecting rods for extreme-duty race engines—big block turbocharged/supercharged endurance motors and blown alcohol drag cars, for example—light weight takes a back seat to absolute strength. Saving a few grams of weight pales in comparison to bent rods that cost you a race.

That’s the idea behind Oliver Racing’s Big Block Max Plus connecting rods. Like the original Oliver Big Block Max rods, the I-beam connecting rods feature Oliver's exclusive "Parabolic Beam" design that reduces beam stress and delivers the highest strength-to-weight ratio of any connecting rod currently made.

Precision-machined from premium mill-certified, aircraft quality E4340 chromoly alloy, the Max Plus rods get Oliver’s two-stage heat treatment process. The first stage is designed to “grow” the best metal grain structure possible. After machining, the rods get a second heat treat to a Rockwell hardness of 38-41—a 20% improvement over the competition. That means you get a connecting rod with higher tensile and yield strength.

Where the Big Block Max Plus rods shine is in their sheer beefiness—the beefiness you need for making silly horsepower numbers and high RPMs:

• 12% thicker cap rib to prevent cap deformation during downstroke to Bottom Dead Center (BDC)
• 55% increase in area from big end bore to bolt spot face corners
• Bolt spot face area has a four-time larger radius for big end bore integrity
• Two aerospace protocol heat treatments
• QR Code traceability featuring build date, rod weight, and CMM inspection report

Applications
• Big block Chevy, 6.385”, 6.535”, 6.635”, 6.700”, 6.800”, 7.00” and 7.100” lengths
• Big Block Ford 460, 6.700” and 6.800” lengths
• Mopar RB big block, 7.100” length
