OMP Racing Safety Gear Now Available at Summit Racing

Michael Schumacher. Ayrton Senna. Mario Andretti, Mika Hakkinen, and Paul Tracy. These racing superstars are just a few of the drivers that have relied on OMP safety gear. Based in Italy, OMP has been making driving suits, gloves, footwear, and other safety products for 40 years. It’s stuff you can trust to protect you out on the track.

Summit Racing carries a big selection of OMP apparel and safety products. Here is a small sample:

One-S1 Driving Suits
These one-piece driving suits aren’t cheap, but they provide a level of protection and comfort that can’t be beat. The suits feature OMP’s Dry System 3D fabric on the back, hip, calve and under-sleeve areas. The breathable fabric lets fresh air in and hot air out to reduce body temperatures and increase comfort, and is lightweight to give the driver maximum mobility.

The rest of the One-S1 suit is made from a lightweight, soft knitted Nomex material and features full floating sleeves, hidden inner pockets, and ultraflat anti-rubbing seams that won’t scratch your delicate skin. One-S1 driving suits are FIA 8856/2000-rated and available in men’s sizes 46-64. You can find a sizing chart on the OMP Racing website to help you choose the proper size suit.

ARP Driving Shoes
If you’ve suffered from soggy driving shoes when racing in the wet, you’ll appreciate these OMP ARP (Advanced Rain-Proof) high-top driving shoes. They’re made from a special polyurethane material with a waterproof membrane under the laces and a high-height ankle to protect your feet from water intrusion. The shoes have an adjustable double-strap with a Velcro® closure and a rear bellow for increased comfort and freedom of movement, plus a high-grip injected sole to keep your feet from slipping off the pedals. ARP Driving Shoes are available in men’s whole sizes from 4-15 and youth sizes 2 and 3.5.

Dijon Driving Gloves
These OMP Dijon Driving Gloves have a retro 1970s design, but the protection is all 21st century–the gloves are made from fire-resistant Nomex fabric with suede palm and finger inserts for a better grip on the steering wheel. The FIA 8856-2000-rated gloves are available in black/white, navy/orange/white, and retro cream/brown in sizes S, M, L, and XL.

Superquadro Steering Wheel
Summit Racing offers 14 different styles of OMP steering wheels including this cool Superquadro wheel. It features a flat-bottom design that lets you stretch out your legs and makes getting in and out of the race car easier. It also has an anatomically designed, black suede handgrip for better control and three black anodized aluminum spokes. The Superquadro comes with a horn button, but you’ll need to order an installation kit, sold separately.
