Pete and Jake's Hot Rod Parts Now Available at Summit Racing
In 1973, two 1934 Ford three-window coupes graced the cover of Rod & Custom Magazine—Pete Chapouris’ California Kid and Jim “Jake” Jacobs’ Jake’s Coupe. Those cars turned the street rod movement on its ear and put Pete and Jake in business making suspension components.
Chapouris and Jacobs sold their company back in the 1980s, but today’s Pete and Jake’s continues their legacy of making the highest quality drop axles, shocks, spindles, and other suspension parts for pre-1948 Fords right here in the US of A. Summit Racing carries a big selection of Pete and Jake’s stuff—here’s just some of what’s available:
Posies Super Slide Front Springs
Pete and Jake's Posies Super Slide front springs will lower the front end of your car either one or 2.5 inches depending on the application. The springs are available for stock and tube/I-beam axles.
Available Applications
• 1928-34 Ford, stock axle and 36.5” perch center, 1” drop
• 1928-34 Ford, narrow tube or I-beam axle with 29” perch center, 1” drop
• 1937-40 Ford, stock axle and perch center, 2.5” drop
• 1941-48 Ford, stock axle and perch center, 2.5” drop
Super Bell I-Beam Front Axles
The famous Super Bell I-beam axles will dump the front of your Ford by four inches. They're cast from high-strength 65-45-12 ductile iron for optimum tensile strength and accept 1937-48 Ford passenger car spindles. Applications include 1928-34 Fords, 1/2-ton Ford pickup trucks up through 1941, and 1935-36 Fords if you split the original wishbones. Super Bell axles are available in solid and drilled versions, with or without filled ends that add strength. Your choice of bare or chrome finishes.
Super Bell Spindles
These stock height ductile iron spindles are reproductions of the 1937-41 Ford round-style spindle. They fit 1928-48 factory Ford or Super Bell axles and accept brakes designed to fit 1937-48 Ford spindles. You can get the spindles by themselves or in a kit with steel or aluminum kingpins.
Rear Shock Kits
We have two good reasons for using a Pete and Jake’s Rear Shock Kit on your car. The monotube shocks are valved just for street rods, and have covers to protect the shaft from dirt and other flying debris. The kits also feature lower shock brackets with four vertical mounting positions so you can set the preferred amount of shock travel. You also get upper shock mounts and mounting hardware. Bolt-on front shock kits are also available.
Summit Racing also carries Pete and Jake’s steering and pitman arms, spring perches and shackles, Panhard rod kits, and chassis crossmembers.
