Protect Your Vintage Engine with Lucas Hot Rod and Classic Car Motor Oil
There are three key ingredients you want in a motor oil for your vintage engine running a flat tappet camshaft: Zinc dialkyldithiophosphate (ZDDP), molybdenum, and phosphorus. These compounds are added to engine oil to prevent excessive engine wear as well as reduce corrosion and oxidation. Off-the-shelf motor oil doesn’t contain enough of these additives to protect your flat tappet-cammed engine, but Lucas Hot Rod and Classic Motor Oil does.
Hot Rod and Classic Car Motor Oil is a non-synthetic, petroleum-based oil with 2,100 PPM of ZDDP and plenty of molybdenum and phosphorus. The formulation creates a tough, thick oil film to protect moving parts, lower oil temperatures, and minimize metal fatigue. The oil also creates a barrier between the engine’s cylinder walls and piston rings to slow oil burning and improve oil pressure.
Lucas Hot Rod and Classic Car Motor Oil is compatible with synthetic and non-synthetic oils, methanol, and all racing fuels. It’s available in 10W30, 10W40, and 20W50 weights in quart bottles, five-quart jugs, and six-gallon boxes. Not for use in vehicles with catalytic converters.
