Race Safer with a Lifeline Fire Suppression System
Every racer wants to win. We say every racer should win safely. That’s why we recommend having a fire suppression system like one from Lifeline in your race car. Lifeline systems are designed and made in the UK and proven in use in F1, Le Mans, and IndyCar competition. You can be confident that you’ll be protected no matter what class you compete in.
Summit Racing carries three types of Lifeline fire suppression systems:
Zero 2000 Fire Suppression Systems
These systems use Alcohol Resistant Aqueous Film-Forming Foam (AR-AFFF), which is effective against alcohol and petroleum-based fires, and is also environmentally friendly. They feature eight misting nozzles—four for the cockpit and four for the engine compartment—for faster heat absorption and fire suppression capability. They come with a four liter bottle, plumbing and mounting hardware.
The Fire Zero 2000 system is electrically activated by a pushbutton switch. It has an independent power supply with indicators for system arming, checking battery strength and circuit continuity, The Zero 2000 Fire Marshal system is a mechanically activated by pull cables with easy-grip T-handles. It has high-quality, handheld valve that Lifeline modified for total discharge of the foam. You can also get a Fire Marshal system with a 2.5 liter bottle and two nozzles for basic cockpit protection.
Zero 360 Systems
Lifeline Fire Zero 360 fire suppression systems use 3M Novec 1230 fire suppressant that is non-conductive, efficient, and able reach areas not in the direct path of the nozzles. It won’t damage electronic components and leaves no residue to clean up once the fire is out.
The Zero 360 systems are electrically activated and come with two straight-inlet nozzles for the cockpit and three ‘double-Z’ nozzles for the engine compartment that disperse fire suppressant over a wider area. Stored pressure systems have a pre-pressurized fire suppressant bottle. Remote charge systems self-pressurize the bottle upon activation and efficiently distribute suppressant using a remote cartridge integrated onto the side of the cylinder. All required plumbing, wiring, and mounting hardware is included.
If you want a mechanical, cable-pull style system, take a look at the Zero 360 Fire Marshal systems. They use the same Novec 1230 fire suppressant and nozzle setup.
Zero 3620 Fire Marshal Suppression Systems
Lifeline Fire Zero 3620 Fire Marshal fire suppression systems are designed to meet FIA 8865-2015 requirements for race classes like WRC and GT3, and offer outstanding protection for racers in any class. They use a combination of 3M Novec 1230 and an AR-AFFF blend foam housed in a fabricated aluminum cylinder. When activated the systems discharge both agents into the cockpit and engine compartment, putting out the fire in less than two seconds.
The Zero 3620 Fire Marshal systems also have two extra coolant outlets you can fit anywhere in the engine compartment to prevent re-ignition of the fire. The systems are rated for cockpit volume in meters. For reference, one cubic meter equals 35.3 cubic feet.
Please note that Lifeline Zero 2000 fire suppression systems with a four liter bottle and Zero 360 systems rated at 2.5 and three kilograms are generally acceptable for race classes requiring a system with a five pound bottle. Check your racing organization’s rules before ordering to be sure.
Summit Racing also carries Lifeline handheld fire extinguishers with Novec 1230 fire suppressant plus replacement bottles for most Lifeline systems.
