Recaro Seats for the Street: Sit in Something More Supportive and Comfortable

Recaro got its start in 1965 by offering a retrofit race-style seat for street-driven cars that was more comfortable and supportive for high-performance driving than the flat buckets the OEMs were currently offering. It didn’t take those OEMs long to get smart and start offering Recaro seats as an option in performance versions of their passenger cars.

You can do the same thing and replace your car’s factory seats with a set of Recaros. Summit Racing offers a nice selection of them, including these:

Speed Series Seats
Recaro Speed Series Seats are based on their popular Speed Seat model. The seat is lined with thick, dense foam that keeps you comfortable and firmly in place during high performance driving. The Speed Seats have high bolsters on the seat cushion, additional lateral support in the backrest and seat cushion, and a formed shoulder support. They also have black Avus upholstery, the softest fabric Recaro offers. Other features include:
• Integrated headrest
• Manual dial-type recline adjustment
• Backrest releases on both side of seat
• Slots for 4-point harnesses and can be used with OEM style 3-point seat belts

Summit Racing also carries these Speed Series Seats. They have the same basic features of the Speed Seat with different shell materials and upholstery:

Speed M Seats have a steel shell styled after competition-style seats. They’re available in black vinyl with a black velour insert or in long-wearing black Nardo fabric.
Speed V Seats have a lightweight composite shell and black leather upholstery with your choice of red, blue, cloud gray, or yellow suede inserts.

Sportster GT Seats
Recaro Sportster GT Seats are a good choice for high performance street-driven cars that see an occasional track day. The lightweight seats feature a reinforced polymer backrest for comfort, side bolsters for optimum body support, and a formed shoulder support. Other features include:
• Made with composite materials for light weight
• Integrated headrest
• Lateral support in the backrest and seat cushion areas
• Manual dial-type recline adjustment
• Set up for standard 3-point seat belts

Recaro Sportster GT Seats are available in black vinyl with red or blue suede inserts; black leather with carbon weave insert; and black Nardo.

Ergomed ES Seats
With 173 quadrillion possible adjustment combinations according Recaro, the Ergomed ES Seat is the most comfortable and supportive Recaro seat for long-distance touring. The Ergomed ES also comes with Recaro’s climate control package that offers full heating and cooling to swaddle you in even more comfort. Other features include:
• Black leather upholstery
• Full lumbar support
• Extendable seat cushion
• Electric height and backrest adjustments
• Electric and manual tilt adjustments
• Adjustable headrest
• Easy-to-operate switch pack
• Backrest release on both sides of the seat
• Seatback pocket

Summit Racing also carries these Recaro seats for street-driven and track day cars:
