Reduce Your Mustang’s Front End Weight and Improve Handling with a QA1 K-Member

The old speed adage says that your ETs will drop by one one-hundredth of a second for every 10 pounds you remove from your car. One way to drop a bunch of poundage on your 1979-2004 Mustang is to swap the factory K-member with a QA1 K-Member. Made from lightweight tubular steel, the K-members weigh just 25 pounds—over 50% lighter than the heavy stamped steel OEM units. The bolt-in K-members also provide better header and oil pan clearance.

The K-members have optimal control arm positioning and a choice of steering rack heights to maintain optimum anti-dive geometry and minimize bump steer issues. They maintain the factory wheel base so they fit without any wheel or tire fitment changes.

QA1 K-Members use bolt-in engine mounts to fit a Ford 5.0L small block, 4.6L or 5.0L Coyote, or a GM LS engine in your Mustang.

The K-members are not compatible with the factory coil springs—you’ll need to get QA1’s Proma Star single-adjustable or double-adjustable coilovers. You’ll appreciate the improved handling and ride height adjustment capability.

QA1 strongly recommends using its front control arms with its K-members. They’re available in two versions:
• Street Control Arms use a factory replacement ball joint for serviceability and polyurethane bushings for a smooth ride and reduced suspension bind
• Race Control Arms have low-friction ball joints and adjustable aluminum bushings with an adjustable eccentric for changing camber/caster settings
