Rid Yourself of Press-In Ball Joint Headaches Once and for All with American Iron Off-Road Ball Joint Delete Kits
If there’s one thing that gives heavy-duty truck and Jeep owners cold sweats at night, it’s constantly replacing worn-out ball joints. Ball joints fail quickly on lifted and heavy rigs—especially ones equipped with bigger tires or subjected to heavy off-road use.
What if we told you that the best ball joint upgrade isn’t a ball joint at all? American Iron Off-Road Ball Joint Delete Kits feature a 4140 chromoly heat-treated stud passing through a tapered machined steel cup containing a spherical rod bearing. This design eliminates the play and wear-prone attributes of a ball joint’s tapered ball-in-socket system while greatly increasing strength, reliability, and durability. American Iron Off-Road Ball Joint Delete Kits install just like OEM ball joints and can be completely rebuilt while still mounted on the vehicle. Summit Racing carries many American Iron Off-Road Ball Joint Delete Kits, including these:
Old School Ball Joint Delete Kit
The American Iron Off-Road Old School Ball Joint Delete Kit is for most classic straight axle Jeeps and trucks. The studs are installed into their corresponding tapers on the inner C-hub mounts. The cup assemblies are pressed into the outer knuckle, and the outer knuckle then slides upward onto the studs and are retained using the included Nyloc nuts.
The American Iron Off-Road Old School Ball Joint Delete Kit fits the following vehicles:
- 1969-91 Chevy/GMC K5 Blazer/Jimmy
- 1967-90 Chevy/GMC K10-25 pickup and Suburban
- 1971-93 Dodge W100-W250
- 1966-80 International Harvester Scout and Scout II
- 1966-79 Ford Bronco, F150, and F250
- 1971-91 Jeep CJ/Wrangler, J10/J20 pickup, and SJ Cherokee/Wagoneer
The American Iron Off-Road Gen 2 Ball Joint Delete Kit for Jeeps is a high clearance system that features a lower cup machined with a recessed flat for increased room, so it works on everything from OEM-style to larger diameter RCV axle setups. The double-ended upper stud design allows alignments to be performed on bent or twisted axle housings. You can also increase or decrease steering firmness by adjusting torque values on the upper and lower joints’ mounting nuts.
The American Iron Off-Road Gen 2 Ball Joint Delete Kit for Jeeps fits 1990-2001 Cherokee and all 1990-2017 Wranglers.
