Roadster Shop SPEC Series Chassis Kits for Chevy Now Available at Summit Racing

The factory chassis under our favorite Bowtie cars and classic trucks were just fine back in the day. But nowadays even an ordinary economy car can run rings around the best of the old muscle rides. We just can’t have that, can we?

Fortunately, Summit Racing now offers Roadster Shop SPEC Chassis Kits. Roadster Shop used its 25 years of building custom chassis for street rods and Pro Touring rides to create these user-friendly kits that give you modern handling and ride comfort without the hassle of upgrading decades-old underpinnings. A SPEC kit may even save you money compared to the cost of parts and labor needed to get an old chassis into shape.

Here’s what you get with a Roadster Shop SPEC Chassis Kit:

Frame
One of the biggest benefits of a SPEC chassis is the full perimeter frame. The frames feature CNC laser-cut and TIG-welded "Laser Rail" frame rails that are strong and lightweight without the kinks and bends mandrel-bent tubing frames can have. That makes the SPEC frames very rigid, which means your suspension can work to its full potential. Other features include:
• Rails contoured to the factory floor pans—few or no floor modifications required on most applications
• CNC-located factory mounts for easy installation
* Accommodations for mini-tubs and wider wheels
• Crossmembers and chassis bracing set up for exhaust systems up to three inches in diameter • Adjustable, drop-out transmission mounts
• Vehicle-specific body, bumper, and core support mounts for true bolt-on installation
• Truck rear frame rail kickups engineered for minimal bed modifications while allowing you to ‘lay frame’

Suspension
Each SPEC chassis comes standard with a front suspension including tubular control arms, single-adjustable coilover shocks, Wilwood Pro series spindles, and a power rack and pinion steering setup. The rear suspension is a parallel four-bar system with single-adjustable coilovers and a Ford 9 inch axle housing with 31-spline axles.

From there you can go nuts with options like double-adjustable shocks; sway bars; Baer disc brakes; engine, transmission, and body mounts; sway bars; and assembled axle center sections with a limited slip and your choice of gears. You can even get a complete airbag suspension depending on the application—just ask your friendly Summit Racing rep for option details.
