Safely Tow Various Height Trailers with a Bulletproof Hitch on Your Truck

Whether you're trailering a drag car to the track or towing a camper on vacation, having the right hitch is essential. You’ll be happy with a Bulletproof Hitch on board. These USA-made hitches are built to such a high standard that the company boasts they have never had a single failure. That’s a bold claim to be sure, but after reviewing all of the features, we believe them. Every hitch Bulletproof builds is extensively tested to exceed SAE-J684 towing requirements.

Medium-Duty Drop/Rise Hitches
Bulletproof Medium-Duty Class 4 Hitches are a versatile “all-in-one” towing package. Their design allows them to be used at various positions to work with different truck and trailer tongue heights.

Medium-Duty Hitches are fitted with an adjustable mount that includes a two-ball platform. It fits in the hitch’s adjustable channel and is welded to a solid steel platform for all-out strength and stability. The two-inch boxed steel shanks have rounded edges so they go in and out of receivers easily, plus two pin holes to adjust how far the hitches stick out. All the components are machined in-house on state-of-the-art Haas CNC machines using Renishaw probes for extremely tight tolerances. This is important because it ensures that everything fits together without slop or excessive movement when towing.

Another great feature of the Medium-Duty Drop/Rise Hitches is that they maintain the same weight capacity when being used in the drop or rise position, allowing you to use every bit of the 2,000-pound tongue/14,000-pound towing capacity regardless of the towing configuration. And talk about good-looking, the hitches are finished in Bulletproof’s durable, corrosion-resistant signature black textured powdercoat which is applied by a Fanuc robot to ensure consistent thickness.

Additional product features include:

  • Easily adjustable drop/rise amounts available in maximum heights from 4" to 6"
  • Adjustable ball mount flips and adjusts in seconds; includes 2" and 2-5/16" hitch balls

Heavy-Duty Drop/Rise Hitches
If you thought the Medium-Duty Hitches were awesome sauce, then wait till you get a load of Bulletproof’s Heavy-Duty Drop/Rise Hitches. These Class 5-rated hitches share many of the same features of their Class 4 brethren but have been beefed up where it counts to increase the tongue weight capacity to 3,000 pounds and the towing capacity up to a monstrous 22,000 pounds.

Differences include:
  • Easily adjustable drop/rise amounts available in maximum heights from 4" to 16"
  • 2-1/2" solid steel shank with chamfered edges for easier installation/removal
  • 5/16" thick steel channel plates
  • 1/2" thick full-length steel gusset
  • Shank includes 3" of steel beyond the last pin hole to completely fill receiver
  • Available to fit 2", 2-1/2", and 3" receivers

Weight Distribution/Sway Control Adapter
With the amount of weight Bulletproof Hitches allow you to pull, it’s quite possible that your heavily-loaded trailer will sway precariously back and forth when towing—especially if you’ve modified your truck’s suspension and/or installed larger-than-stock tires.

Bulletproof Hitches’ Weight Distribution/Sway Control Adapter can fix that. This solid steel adapter gives you the ability to attach a sway control head to your Bulletproof Hitch, helping distribute your load more effectively and preventing dreaded trailer sway. The 2" wide adapter has four 3/4" diameter holes spaced 1-1/4" apart to make additional drop/rise height adjustments if necessary. It’ll work with most brands of weight distribution/sway control systems (sold separately) and Class 5 hitches up to 6,000-pound tongue/36,000-pound towing capacities.
