Say Goodbye to Leaks and Cracks with a Dorman OEM Replacement Intake Manifold
Most modern engines use plastic/polymer intake manifolds to save weight and production costs. As they age, these manifolds can start cracking and splitting. That can cause problems ranging from air leaks and loose sensor fittings to major coolant loss and overheating.
Dorman makes replacement manifolds for popular GM, Ford, Chrysler, Jeep, Toyota, and Volkswagen engines that are re-engineered to fix many of these problems—and cost less than the factory parts.
Two of the more troublesome intake designs are the GM LS2 and the Ford Triton V8, and are excellent examples of what lengths Dorman goes to in order to make its manifolds better.
Upper Intake Manifold for GM LS2
GM engineered the LS2 with a two-piece manifold (base and upper plenum) that was vibration welded, a process that melts the composite together after vibrating the materials to produce enough friction for a weld. The design worked, but it allowed a minuscule amount of air to leak internally past the welds. If you did a head swap or otherwise modified the engine to increase airflow, the air leak got worse, especially in the upper RPM range. That had the potential to cause a lean condition that could reduce performance.
Dorman’s upper intake manifold for the LS2 has been re-engineered with a heat-resistant composite to eliminate the air leak issue as well as warping and coolant leaks. The intake also has reinforced EGR and coolant passage walls for increased durability. Gaskets, valley bolts, fuel rail brackets, and fuel injector O-rings are included.
Upper Intake Manifold for Ford 5.4L
Ford’s Triton V8 is notorious for spark plug issues (thanks, two-piece spark plug that splits when you try to remove it), but the upper intake manifold can also be a problem. The gaskets can fail prematurely and leaks on the passenger side of the coolant crossover are common.
Dorman’s replacement upper intake manifold is engineered to correct those issues. Made from heat-resistant polymers to reduce warping and coolant leaks, the manifold had reinforced EGR and coolant passage walls for durability. The gaskets are an updated design and factory-installed on the manifold. The coolant crossover has reinforcements to eliminate corrosion and vibration which can cause leaks. And Dorman even includes a thermostat, and O-ring for the PCV fitting, and hardware.
The manifold fits 2000-2016 Triton 5.4L with engine codes L, Z, 3, or M.
