Summit Racing™ Full Wheel Front Drum-to-Disc Brake Conversion Kits: Better Mustang Stopping Power in a Box
While Ford offered front disc brakes on Mustangs beginning in 1965, plenty of them came off the assembly line with four-wheel drum brakes. In fact, front drums were standard right through the 1973 model year. And let’s be honest, their stopping power left something to be desired even when new.
You can upgrade your Mustang from front drum to manual front disc with a Summit Racing™ Full Wheel Drum-to-Disc Brake Conversion Kit. The name is long but the kits are easy to install, are fully D.O.T. compliant for street use, and most are designed to fit OEM V8 drum brake spindles.
All kits include:
• 11 inch diameter rotors
* Four-piston calipers (six cylinder applications have one-piston calipers)
• Brackets to convert existing spindles
• Backing plates where applicable
• Bearings, seals, and dust caps
• Spindle nuts and washers
• Brake line
• Installation hardware
Depending on the application, you will get solid vented, slotted, or cross-drilled rotors. The Summit Racing Full Wheel Front Disc-to-Drum Brake Conversion Kits are available for 1964.5 to 1973 Mustang.
