Summit Racing™ Pro LS Camshafts for GM LS Engines: More Power for Everyone
It’s always nice to have choices...and that’s what you get with our lineup of Summit Racing™ Pro LS Camshafts for GM LS and LS-based Vortec truck engines. We offer 10 cam profiles for high performance, truck, and turbo applications.
Summit Racing Pro LS Camshafts are precision-machined from high-quality, American-made steel. Their state-of-the-art lobe designs pull strongly past 7,000 RPM using valve springs rated as little as 150 lbs. at the seat and 400 lbs. of open spring pressure.
Pro LS Stage 2, 3, and 4 Camshafts
If you’re going through the time and effort to do a cam swap, you’re going to want to see a pretty big performance gain. That’s why we went straight to Stage 2 with these camshafts. These have more lift and trade a little bottom-end torque for more power in the mid- and upper RPM ranges. The Stage 2 and 3 cams are rated to .600 inches of valve lift with a 1.7 ratio rocker arm. The Stage 4 cams are good up to .625 inches of valve lift with the same rocker, and are designed for big power increases in street/strip cars using a factory-style intake manifold. 3.45-3.70 rear axle gears are highly recommended with Stage 4 cams.
Pro LS Stage 3 and 4 Camshafts for LS3
These cams are rated to .625 inches of valve lift with a 1.7 ratio rocker arm. They’re designed for use with rectangle-port cylinder heads, and will clear an LS3’s flat-top pistons. If you’re looking for a little more cylinder compression, the Stage 3 cam can be used with milled cylinder heads. The Stage 4 cam is for un-milled heads only.
Pro LS Stage 2 Turbo Camshaft
This cam has exhaust lobes that are less aggressive than the intake lobes. This design opens the exhaust valve a little easier, which takes stress off the valvetrain—a big deal considering a turbo motor’s high cylinder pressures. The cam also has less overlap to help prevent reversion due to higher turbine inlet pressures in single-turbo applications.
Pro LS Truck Camshafts
Pro LS Truck cams make power where it’s needed. They won’t lug or surge, and are designed to maintain part-throttle efficiency. You can get the idle you want simply by raising or lowering the idle speed a bit.
The Stage 1 and Stage 2 cams are designed to work with OEM valve springs and the stock torque converter. We do recommend using LS6 type valve springs with the Stage 2 cam to extend the RPM range a bit.
The Stage 3 and Stage 4 cams are designed for use with LS6 valve springs and higher stall torque converters—2,500 RPM for the Stage 3 and 2,800-3,000 RPM for the Stage 4.
One cool thing about the Summit Racing Pro LS cams is that they are designed to work with proven, off-the-shelf components including:
• Rocker Arm Trunnion Upgrade Kits
• Pro LS Roller Rocker Arms
