Transform Your 3rd Gen Camaro’s Steering with a Flaming River Rack and Pinion Cradle Kit

Flaming River’s Rack and Pinion Cradle Kit allows you to ditch the old recirculating ball setup in your 3rd Gen Camaro in favor of a more modern design that provides better-than-new steering response and handling.

Flaming River makes the conversion about as easy as it can be. The kit features a new power rack and pinion assembly mounted in a precision-welded steel cradle. It replaces the Camaro’s original steering box and drag link, bolting directly into their locations with no welding or other modifications required. The assembly’s one-inch diameter rack gear is stronger than stock and provides more than six inches of travel to maintain OEM-level maneuverability and turning radius.

Mounted to the front of the cradle is a travel bar with Flaming River-designed inner tie rods. These connect to the original outer tie rod ends and adjusting sleeves to maintain the original pivot geometry and turning radius of the old drag link. Moreover, the cradle kit works seamlessly with your Camaro’s factory power steering pump and stock steering column, further reducing installation time and cost. Other items included for the conversion include Flaming River Billet-Joint® universal joints plus a new steering shaft, power steering hose and fittings, and mounting hardware.
