Tuff Stuff Tuff Mudder Alternators for Jeep JK Now Available at Summit Racing

When you’re planning to add electrical accessories like lights or a winch to your JK, consider the load your poor factory alternator has to handle. Take a look at the amperage draw for some popular add-ons:
• Winch: 20 amps
• Sound system (up to 500 watts): 20-40 amps
• Halogen headlights: 25 amps
• Fog lights: 20 amps
• Off-road light bar: 10-20 amps
• Single electric cooling fan: 20 amps

Combine those with the amperage draw of the factory air conditioning system, wipers, power windows, heated seats, etc. and that 140-160 amp OE alternator will be toast in short order.

Fortunately, a Tuff Stuff Tuff Mudder alternator can handle the load. The 175 amp alternator puts out 135 amps at idle, and the 250 amp model puts out 211 amps at idle. That should cover your Jeep’s electrical needs quite nicely.
