Turn a Sloppy Handler into Canyon Carver Hotchkis Suspension Components for GM A-Body
The suspension on GM’s 1964-72 A-Body cars—Chevelles, GTOs, Cutlasses, and Skylarks—has potential for exceptional handling. Unfortunately, The General went the soft and sloppy path, giving the cars Barcalounger comfort at the expense of steering and cornering.
Fortunately, Summit Racing has shelves full of Hotchkis Sport Suspension kits and components to unleash your A-Body’s handling. Take a gander:
Total Vehicle Suspension (TVS) Systems
TVS systems bundle together upgrades required to turn an A-Body into a serious canyon bomber. The TVS Systems include suspension components precisely matched to work together. Hotchkis arranges the kits in stages. As the stages progress, spring rates get more aggressive and the ride becomes more track-focused. You pick the right stage for your driving style. Stage One kits include coil springs, rear control arms, sway bars, polyurethane bushings, and hardware. Stage Two kits add in tubular front control arms and shocks.
1.5 Series Shocks
These monotube shocks feature a hard anodized aluminum body, smooth-riding digressive disc technology, a high-flow piston, specially formulated oil, and a high-pressure nitrogen gas charge for consistent performance under varying conditions. The 1.5 Series shocks are available with fixed or adjustable rebound. Polyurethane bushings are included.
Sway Bars
Hotchkis sway bars are precision engineered to suppress body roll during cornering. The bars are hollow so they’re lighter than a typical solid bar, yet they boast excellent strength and rigidity. They are CNC made to ensure a factory-fit and feature several adjustment holes to dial-in a precise setup.
Front A-Arms
Hotchkis tubular A-arms are lighter than the heavy factory arms. They create a negative camber curve for improved steering geometry, which increases caster for high-speed stability and minimizes ball joint angle during suspension travel. The A-arms come assembled with ball joints, bushings, and billet chromoly offset cross shafts.
Rear Suspension Packages
Hochkis rear suspension kits feature upper and lower trailing arms that are fully boxed so they won’t flex and throw off your handling like the factory C-channel arms can. The bars also have polyurethane bushings to further reduce flex and eliminate wheel hop. You can get a kit with fixed upper control arms or one with adjustable upper arms that can be set right on the car.
Summit Racing also carries these Hotchkis components for your A-Body:
• Tie rod sleeves
• Steering rebuild kits
• Polyurethane bushings
• Stock height and lowering springs
• Ball joints
