Turn Your Regular Ratchet into a Torque Wrench with an ACDelco Digital Torque Adapter

If tightening fasteners to the right spec wasn’t a big deal, engineers in white lab coats with clipboards wouldn’t spend so much time figuring out proper torque amounts for us. That’s why you need a torque wrench. Otherwise, you run the risk of overtightening fasteners, leading to all sorts of bad things like broken bolts, cracked components, fluid loss, and more.

However, not everyone has the means to own a drawer full of expensive torque wrenches. ACDelco knows that, so they created this nifty Digital Torque Adapter that turns any standard ratchet or breaker bar into a precise, torque tightening machine. The 1/2-inch drive adapter has modes for making static torque measurements as well as torque and measurement settings. The adapter reads in the 25-250 lbs.-ft., but the LCD display can also be set to read lbs.-in., kg-cm, and N-m measurements. An audible buzzer sounds when you reach your torque setting, which is handy when you’re working in areas where you can’t physically read the display. Another neat feature of the Digital Torque Adapter is multi-directional tensioning, which is fancy talk for saying that it measures torque in both clockwise and counterclockwise directions.
