ZyCoat ZyBar Thermal Barrier Coatings: Less Heat and Better Exhaust Scavenging
What if we told you that a simple coating can improve horsepower and torque, and also reduce underhood radiant heat by 90%? Well, there is—and you can apply it yourself in your own garage.
ZyCoat says its ZyBar Thermal Barrier Coating is the first do-it-yourself high temperature heat dissipation coating. Ideal for headers, manifolds, turbos, and exhaust systems, ZyBar prevents internal heat buildup inside engine components. That increases exhaust scavenging, which frees up extra horsepower and can even bump up your fuel economy a bit. The reduced internal heat buildup also extends the life of coated components and lowers underhood temperatures that can bake sensitive ignition and electronic systems.
ZyBar creates a smooth and very thin .001 to .0012 mil coating on parts, making it much lighter than bulky wraps and tape or even conventional ceramic and powdercoating. Application is easy—just media blast parts to remove rust and grease, then spray, dip, or wipe ZyBar on. It cures in two hours using an oven set at 450° F, or you can let it air dry for five days.
ZyBar won’t chip or crack and can withstand temperatures up to 2,000° F. It is available in Metallic Silver for an as-cast appearance, or go with Midnight Black or Bronze Satin for something different.
Watch this ZyBar video to learn how the coating works and how to prep parts and apply the coating.
