Alund Eager for Second Four-Wide Racing Experience
Jimmy Alund is a new to the Summit Racing Pro Stock team. But the Swedish driver isn’t a newcomer to this weekend's 5th annual NHRA Four-Wide Nationals at zMAX Dragway in Charlotte, North Carolina.
The Four-Wide Nationals is exactly what its name implies. Four drivers at a time race down the track during four qualifying sessions. Final eliminations will feature a trio of four-car rounds. In rounds one and two, the first two cars to cross the finish line will advance. The final four-car standoff will result in one winner and one runner-up; the last two cars to cross the finish line will post semifinals finishes. The format, as well as the starting line procedures, can be tricky.
"I was at the first Four-Wide in 2010 with my own car," recalled Alund. "I ran a 6.71 (elapsed time). I'm looking forward to going there again and trying to maybe improve on what we did in Las Vegas a couple of weeks ago."
Alund had his finest outing yet at the SummitRacing.com NHRA Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The multi-time European Pro Stock champ won two rounds, his first NHRA round wins ever.
"Last weekend was something I had hoped to accomplish, and I couldn't have picked a better race to do that," said Alund. "I'm very excited to race at the Four-Wide Nationals. It's a home race for the KB Racing team, and I like getting to spend a few days in the shop with the boys. This weekend should be a lot of fun."
