Anderson and Line Look Forward to the Countdown to the Championship

Team Summit Racing Drivers Greg Anderson and Jason Line leave the Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals with their sights set on the NHRA 2018 Countdown to the Championship.

In Round One of eliminations, Greg Anderson took the win with a 6.639 second/207.98 MPH pass over Steve Graham’s 6.707/205.98. In Round Two, Jeg Coughlin Jr. won on the holeshot with a .018 reaction time (RT) 6.645/206.64 pass over Anderson’s .044 RT 6.643/207.37 pass.

“Honestly, I’m more disappointed about losing Indy than losing the points lead,” said Anderson, who has six previous wins in nine U.S. Nationals final rounds. “We’ll regroup, and we know what to work on. The Countdown starts now.”

Anderson heads into the Countdown second in the Pro Stock points standings.

In Round One, Summit Racing teammate Jason Line was victorious over Vincent Nobile with a 6.648/207.59 pass to 6.672/207.30. In Round Two, Line fouled out allowing Tanner Gray to advance to the semifinals.

“It’s frustrating. I really paid attention all through qualifying. I was good up until that round,” said Line. “We get a fresh page in Reading in two weeks, and I am certainly looking forward to it.”

Line starts the Countdown in eighth place in Pro Stock points.

Tim Wilkerson, driver of the Levi, Ray and Shoup Ford Shelby Mustang Nitro Funny car is ready for the Countdown to begin.

In Round One of eliminations, Wilkerson won a very close round against Del Worsham with a 4.103/309.77 pass to 4.105/310.13. In Round Two, Tommy Johnson Jr.  took the win light with a 4.085/295.34 pass to Wilk’s 4.112/305.08.

“The pressure was off our shoulders after we locked into the Countdown, but I thought we had a good enough car to win the race,” said Wilkerson. “We had a great car this weekend, everybody did a great job, and we’re excited to get to Reading.”
