Anderson and Line Move Up in Pro Stock Point Standings

Greg Anderson and Jason Line both moved up in the Pro Stock points standings at the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals in Norwalk, Ohio. Strong qualifying performances earned both drivers bonus points and a bump in the rankings.

In Round One of eliminations, Anderson’s 6.608 second/209.36 MPH pass defeated fellow KB Racing teammate Fernando Cuadra’s 6.645/210.37.

In Round Two, Anderson experienced tire shake, giving Chris McGaha the win, 6.603/209.88 to 9.750/97.45.

“Unfortunately, things didn’t go the way we thought,” said Anderson. “But we were fast this weekend, and now we have to focus on getting back to work.”

Anderson moves up to fourth place in the Pro Stock points standings.

Jason Line defeated Val Smeland in Round One of eliminations with a 6.597/209.59 pass to 14.170/60.89. In Round Two, Line was a little too quick at the tree and fouled out, giving Alex Laughlin the victory.

“That was not the way I saw that round going, but you have to put it behind you,” said Line. “We have to thank everyone from Summit Racing for welcoming us, supporting us, and cheering for us whether we win or lose.”

Line moves up to third place in Pro Stock points.

Bo Butner defeated Fernando Cuadra Jr. in Round One of eliminations, and had top speed of the day with a 6.608/211.33 pass to 6.612/208.97.

In Round Two, Butner’s 6.621/209.56 run beat Matt Hartford’s tire shaking 10.091/89.32 pass. In the semifinals, Chris McGaha got the win, 6.610/210.05 to Butner’s 6.650/ No Speed.

“I want to say congratulations to Chris [McGaha, event winner]. He’s been in a slump, and he deserves to win,” Butner said.

Butner remains first in Pro Stock points.

The next Pro Stock event on the 2019 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series tour is the Dodge NHRA Mile-High Nationals in Denver, July 19-21.

Bo Butner also made it to the semifinal round in the SAM Tech Factory Stock Showdown driving the Summit Racing Ford Racing Cobra Jet Mustang.

The Factory Stock Showdown is a specialty series that takes place at select NHRA events. It showcases drag-ready, factory-built cars produced by Ford, Chevy, and Dodge.

Butner was the number three qualifier and had the quickest passes in all three elimination rounds. He was defeated in the semifinal round by Drew Skillman on a holeshot, 7.939/178.64 to 7.904/175.68. Butner remains in second place in the Factory Stock Showdown points standings.

The SAM Tech Factory Stock Showdown continues in Indianapolis at the Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals, August 28-September 2.

Tim Wilkerson, driver of the Levi, Ray and Shoup Ford Shelby Mustang Nitro Funny Car, switched up the car’s body (with permission of LRS) running a special Polar Air Compressors design.

In Round One of eliminations, Wilk had a good launch off the line, but tire shake ended his day early. Tommy Johnson Jr. smoked the tires on his car, but made it to the finish line first, 4.288/215.62 to Wilk’s 4.462/195.11.

“We’ve had such good races recently,” said Wilkerson. “Today, we just didn’t get the job done. We’ll try to do better in Epping.”
