Anderson and Line Ready for the DENSO Spark Plugs NHRA Nationals and K&N Horsepower Challenge

This weekend, Summit Racing Pro Stock drivers Greg Anderson and Jason Line have two chances to win—one is the DENSO Spark Plugs NHRA Nationals, the second being the 33rd annual the K&N Horsepower Challenge. Both events will take place at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Drivers earn their position in the K&N Horsepower Challenge based on qualifying points accumulated over the course of one year. Seven drivers earn a position, with an eighth driver awarded a spot based on a fan vote.

Greg Anderson makes his 13th appearance at the Challenge. He’s currently the defending champion and holds the most wins (five).

"I love that K&N Horsepower Challenge race. It’s all about prestige and that fantastic trophy,” Anderson said. “I look forward to it all year long, and I have a chance to win it again. I love it, and I can’t wait. It's the biggest race of the year as far as I'm concerned.”

“We have something special there in Vegas, no doubt about it,” Anderson continued. “We’re going to a happy racetrack for KB Racing, and everybody will be smiling because we love racing in Ken Black’s home town.”

Teammate and current Pro Stock Champion Jason Line is competing for his first K&N Horsepower Challenge victory and looking to win the DENSO Spark Plugs NHRA Nationals a second year in a row.

“Going to Vegas we have two trophies we're racing for,” Line said. “But the pressure is the same as always. There is an extra level of excitement, no question about it, but the pressure is still the same. You want to win, no matter what.”

“It's always good to go to Las Vegas, the hometown of our team owners Ken and Judy Black,” Line continued. “We love racing in their backyard and right there in the same area as one of our great sponsors, Findlay Chevrolet. The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway is just a great place to go race.”

“The K&N Horsepower Challenge has lived up to its name for me—it's been a challenge, but it's one I look forward to. One of these years, I'm going to win that thing—and I'm doing my best to try to make that happen this year.”

Funny Car driver Tim Wilkerson is also ready to race in Las Vegas. “We're excited to go back to Vegas and continue our quest to go down the track every run,” said Wilkerson.  “You have a little more trouble making power there [due to elevation], but I’ve had very few problems. Our Levi, Ray & Shoup Mustang does really well there, and I have some great memories at that racetrack.”
