Anderson Believes Hard Work Will Pay Off at Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Southern Nationals

Greg Anderson and his Summit Racing Pro Stock team are ready to make the trek from their race shop in Mooresville, North Carolina down to Atlanta Dragway for this weekend's 34th annual Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Southern Nationals.

The journey will give the hard working team time to rest before a very important weekend kicks into high gear. Since Anderson returned to competition at the NHRA Southern Nationals two weeks ago, the KB Racing group has worked tirelessly prepare for the event that bears the name of the team’s major sponsor.

"We've tested eight days since we got home from Houston," said Anderson, who missed the first five races of the season as he recovered from heart surgery. "Between two cars, we've made 80 runs in eight days. That's a heck of a lot of testing, but we knew how important it was to go out there and do this.”

"This is a big event for Summit Racing, and we want to represent them well,” Anderson continued. “We have been able to rise to the occasion many times at this race track, and we believe we'll be do the same this year."

The team's performance at the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Southern Nationals has been spectacular. Anderson and teammate Jason Line have 12 final round appearances in Atlanta between them; Anderson has won four times and Line once. The duo has raced in an all-Summit Racing final a total of three times.

"I have some ground to make up if I'm going to make the playoffs,” Anderson explained, referring to NHRA's 10-race Countdown to the Championship that begins after the U.S. Nationals in September  “We need to run fast, and we need to find a way to win because after missing those first few races, I don't have time to take six or seven races to get up to speed. I'm ready. There are no issues, no worries, nothing is holding me back. As long as I have a car that can contend for race wins, we can get this done.”

Prior to the race, both Anderson and Line will attend a very special, annual celebration honoring those who have earned NHRA championships—the NHRA Mello Yello Partnership Dinner at Atlanta's World of Coca-Cola. Anderson is a four-time Pro Stock world champion, and Line earned two coveted Pro Stock titles driving for Summit Racing.

"It's a neat, neat deal to be invited to this dinner," said Anderson. "The good folks at Coca-Cola make you feel so special, like you're part of their family. You realize you're in an exclusive club. Not many people have won world championships, and I'm proud to be a member of that club. It's a great way to start what will, hopefully, be a great weekend for the Summit Racing team."
