Anderson Makes Second-Quickest Pro Stock Pass Ever in Texas
Greg Anderson had quite a hot rod on Sunday at the AAA NHRA Fall Nationals. He made the second-quickest pass in the history of NHRA Pro Stock—6.457 seconds—in the first round of eliminations.
Anderson, qualified fifth with a 6.484 second, 213.81 MPH pass—a run that set the Pro Stock MPH record at the Texas Motorplex. He met up with Chris McGaha in Round One. Anderson ran that awesome 6.457/214.59 pass, but McGaha’s .048 second starting line advantage was enough to take the win with a 6.504/213.20. That margin of victory was a razor-thin .001 second.
“We love racing out here at Texas Motorplex, and we almost ran the national record,” said Anderson. “Today was a tough pill to swallow. But I don’t quit. I don’t give up. My Summit Racing Chevrolet Camaro is the best car I’ve had in a lot of years. We’ll be bad to the bone again.”
Anderson is currently second in the Countdown to the Championship points standings.
Line Moves Up in Countdown to the Championship Points
Jason Line’s performance at the Texas Motorplex was good enough to move him up to seventh place in the Countdown to the Championship points standings.
Line qualified second with a 6.471/213.40, a pass that set the track elapsed time record. He defeated Alan Prusiensky in Round One of eliminations, across 6.467/214.18 to 6.701/207.11. Line’s pass was the third quickest of the round and one of just three to exceed 214 MPH.
Line met up with Allen Johnson in Round Two. He made another great pass with his 6.482/214.14, but Johnson’s 0.55 second starting line advantage was enough to give him the win with a 6.530/212.26. The margin of victory was just .007 second.
“My Summit Racing Chevrolet Camaro is really good, there is no disputing that fact,” said Line. “I had a car that could have won today. We get to go to Las Vegas in less than two weeks to race at the home track for our team owners, Ken and Judy Black, and we expect to do well there. This year isn’t over yet, and the Summit Racing team would certainly like it to end on a high note. We’ve got two races left to make that happen.”
