Greg Anderson Home Following Surgery
Four-time NHRA Pro Stock World Champion Greg Anderson is resting at home following heart surgery done just before the season-opening NHRA Winternationals.
“It’s really not a big deal,” Anderson explained about his condition before the operation. “I was born with a bicuspid aortic heart valve (two valve openings instead of three). It’s something we’ve kept track of over the years, and my doctor has decided it’s time to make some repairs so I stay in good shape. I will miss the first few races of the season, but once the doctor says I’m good to go, I’m gonna be right back at it looking for another Pro Stock championship.”
Anderson will be out of the driver’s seat for the first six races of the season. Eight-time FIA Pro Stock champion Jimmy Alund will be piloting Anderson's Summit Racing Equipment/KB Racing Camaro for those events. Alund qualified tenth at the Winternationals, going out in the first round of elimnations due to a redlight start. Alund’s 6.555/211.63 pass in that round bodes shows he will be competitive during his time in the driver's seat.
