Jason Line Qualifies 2nd at the NHRA Toyota Nationals

Jason Line qualified second at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway Vegas and made the second-quickest pass of the opening round of eliminations.

“We ran well today, so we’re happy about that,” said Line. In Round One of eliminations, Line’s 6.640 second/206.86 MPH pass defeated Kenny Delco’s 6.693/205.16.

In Round Two, Line’s 6.655/206.23 pass wasn’t enough to win against KB Racing teammate Bo Butner’s 6.652/ 207.08.

“Bo and I had two of the quickest cars that round, and that’s certainly a positive for the KB Racing team, but I’ve got a good car going into Pomona,” said Line, who is currently sixth in Pro Stock points.

Greg Anderson was the provisional Number One qualifier on Friday evening, but saw an early exit on Sunday. In Round One of eliminations, Anderson lost to Erica Enders with a 6.655/207.37 pass to Enders’ 6.644/206.45.

“The weekend started off great, but it went downhill from there,” said Anderson. “We have to learn from what we did here and just come back strong for Pomona.”

Anderson is seventh in the Pro Stock points standing.

Tim Wilkerson, driver of the Levi, Ray and Shoup Ford Shelby Mustang Nitro Funny Car made some good qualifying passes, but his progress stopped on Sunday when he left the starting line too soon in the first round. It was his first red-light start since 2016.

“I was optimistic about how good our car ran on every run,” said Wilkerson. “We’ll take it to Pomona and see what we can do there.”

Wilkerson is fourth in the Funny Car points standings.
