Jason Line Records Top Speed of the Weekend in Seattle

At the 30th annual NHRA Northwest Nationals in Seattle, Summit Racing Chevrolet Camaro driver Jason Line closed out the strenuous Western Swing with a strong car, recording Top Speed of the meet at 210.67 MPH.

In round one of eliminations, Line ran a 6.577-second/209.33 MPH pass to defeat Vincent Nobile who ran a 6.661/209.43. In round two, Line and Erica Enders were nearly identical with their reaction times, but Enders won a close match with a 6.595/209.46 to beat Line’s 6.603/209.30.

“I had a good car this weekend, the best I’ve had in a long time, but we have a lot of work to do still,” said Line.

Jason Line is currently fourth in the Pro Stock points standings, and has clinched a spot in the Countdown.

Greg Anderson had lane choice in round one of eliminations against Allen Johnson.  Although Anderson had a .032-second Reaction Time to Johnson’s .047, Johnson took the win with a 6.591/209.88 run to Anderson’s 6.661/209.14.

“We were just way too conservative,” said Anderson. “We underestimated the racetrack. We just had no wheel spin and ran slow all the way down the track because of it. We have to rethink what we’re doing.”

Anderson remains second in the Pro Stock points standings and has secured his spot in the Countdown.

Bo Butner led the charge in the semifinals for KB Racing. Butner defeated Steve Graham with the second-quickest run of round one, 6.569/210.01 to Graham’s 6.623/208.94. In round two Butner’s 6.596/209.33 pass thwarted Chris McGaha’s 6.645/207.69. Unfortunately, in the semifinals, he fouled out by .117-second, sending Drew Skillman to the finals. Butner has logged a semifinals or better finish at all but three races this season.

“Today, I just made a mistake on the starting line,” said Butner. “But, you’re not going to be perfect every time. We’ll go on to Brainerd, and then Indy, where we hope to do well. Then the Countdown starts.”

Tim Wilkerson qualified 11th this weekend. In his first-round meeting with reigning NHRA Funny Car champion Ron Capps, Wilkerson left the line with a .008-second RT, but his Levi, Ray & Shoup Ford Shelby Mustang soon lost traction. Capps took the win a 3.901/326.00 over Wilkerson’s 4.232/226.32.

“We’re going to Night Under Fire at Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio next weekend,” said Wilkerson. “Then it’s back home to put a new car back together that we plan to run at Brainerd. Hopefully, we’ll get to Indy with all our ducks in a row and be ready to get ourselves positioned in the top 10.”

Wilkerson remains eighth in the Funny Car points standings.
