Jimmy Alund Reaches Final Round at FIA European Pro Stock Race Number Two
Team Summit European Pro Stock driver Jimmy Ålund had to deal with a very fickle race track during the second round of the 2014 FIA European Drag Racing Championship at Alastaro Motopark in Alastaro, Finland. The track had recently been resurfaced and was very smooth. Unfortunately, abnormally wet spring weather did not allow the track crew to fully prep the racing surface. That made chassis and clutch setup a very tricky proposition.
Ålund and J&J Performance Racing team did their best to get the KB Racing-powered Camaro dialed in. Ålund qualified Number One with a 6.85 second, 336.83 km/hour (209.29 MPH) pass. That pass set Top Speed of the event.
In Round One of eliminations, Ålund ran the quickest ET of the event (6.778 seconds) on his way to defeating opponent Jan Palmqvist. Ålund defeated Magnus Petersson in Round Two, recording the quickest ET and Top Speed of the round with a 6.800/336.68 (209.20 mph) pass.
In the final round against Michael Malmgren, Ålund overpowered the track and spun the tires, handing Malmgren the win.
Ålund is currently second in the FIA European Drag Racing Championship, just six points away from Number One.
