Line Ends 2020 Season with Second Place Points Finish

Jason Line finished the 2020 season in second place in Pro Stock points after the Dodge NHRA Finals in Las Vegas, Nevada, the last race of the NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series.

Line faced Cristian Cuadra in Round One of eliminations. Cuadra got the win on a .002 second holeshot and 6.691 second/204.98 MPH pass to Line’s .082 RT and 6.653/205.51 run.

The race closed out the 51-time Pro Stock winner’s Finish Line tour. Line will transition from driver to his role in the engine shop and dyno room of KB Racing.

“There’s a lot I’m going to miss—the fans, the relationships you build with the people you get to see out here,” said Line. “Pro Stock in a very humbling class, I have no regrets. I’m looking forward to the next chapter. It’s been a great ride.”

Greg Anderson made it to the semifinal round and picked up his 106th Number One qualifier award.

In Round One, Anderson defeated Aaron Strong, 6.629/207.02 to 6.708/204.08. In Round two against Aaron Stanfield, Anderson took the win with a 6.620/207.53 pass to Stanfield’s 6.648/205.76.

In the semifinal round against Erica Enders, Anderson had top speed of race day, but Enders got the win on a .015 second holeshot and 6.642/206.42 pass to Anderson’s .041 RT and 6.625/207.66 run.

“I’m pretty darn proud of our race team,” said Anderson. “This is the best car I’ve had in a long time. You look at this class and the talent within it, and you can’t help but see good things for the future of Pro Stock. I’m looking forward to being part of it for many more years.”

Anderson finished the season fourth in the Pro Stock points standings.

Bo Butner is trading full-time Pro Stock racing for a more a-la-carte schedule in 2021. He isn’t retiring from racing, but did make his last journey down the racetrack in the KB Racing-equipped Strutmasters/Jim Butner Auto Group Chevrolet Carmaro in Las Vegas.

In Round One, Butner defeated Deric Kramer, 6.658/204.57 to 6.636/205.57. In Round Two, Kyle Koretsky got the win with a 6.645/205.98 pass to Butner’s 6.696/106.33.

“I wish we had a better season, but I’ve been blessed,” said Butner. “I’ve won all that a person could ask and then some. It’s sad, knowing I’m not going to be week-to-week with the KB Racing team, but we’ll have a relationship forever. I’m definitely not finished with NHRA drag racing, it’s just deciding at what level we want to participate.”

Butner finished the season ninth in the Pro Stock points standings.

Tim Wilkerson, driver of the Levi, Ray and Shoup Ford Shelby Mustang Nitro Funny Car finished his 25th season with a 13th consecutive top 10 finish.

Round One of eliminations against J.R. Todd started out close as they left the starting line, with Wilk ahead at the 330-foot timer. However, both drivers began to smoke the tires and were on and off the throttle to get to the finish line.

Wilkerson’s car crossed into the lane behind Todd’s car and got a windshield full of parachutes. Todd was unaware of the situation.

“The car dropped three holes [engine cylinders] on the left side when I pedaled it,” said Wilkerson. “It was pretty interesting. I was just doing my best not to hit Todd. Thankfully, he didn’t slam on the brakes or anything, I’m just glad we didn’t run into each other.

We’re going to head home and start working on next year. I’m excited and grateful for all of the help that we’ve had this year. 2021 should be even better.”

Wilkerson finished the season seventh in the Funny Car points standings.
