Line Finishes the Season in Fourth
Jason Line finished the season in fourth place in Pro Stock points after the Auto Club NHRA Finals in Pomona, California, the last race of the NHRA Countdown to the Championship.
In Round One of eliminations, Line had the quickest run of the round with his 6.562 second/210.05 MPH pass, beating Shane Tucker’s 6.650/208.78. In Round Two, Line’s car went out of the groove, giving KB Racing teammate Fernado Cuadra the win, 6.617/207.40 to Line’s 8.371/110.36.
“Today wasn’t great, but there have certainly been good moments this season,” said Line. “We won Brainerd, so I can cross that off my list. We’ve got a busy off-season coming up and I’m looking forward to a fresh start next year.”
Greg Anderson finished seventh in the Pro Stock points standings. In Round One of eliminations, he faced points leader Erica Enders. It was a tight race, with Enders taking the win on a 6.570/210.41 pass to Anderson’s 6.575/210.31.
“It was a great drag race, no question about it. But the run wasn’t great,” said Anderson. “We just missed a little bit on the car setup and spun the tires. I’m still proud of the team effort. We achieved a lot this weekend.”
Tim Wilkerson, driver of the Levi, Ray and Shoup Ford Shelby Mustang Nitro Funny Car, secured the 15th top 10 finish of his career. It was also his 12th consecutive season of finishing in the top 10.
“I’m proud of that,” said Wilkerson. “We had a good year, we just stumbled in the Countdown, but we’ll get it next year. I’m happy about my guys. They’re a terrific group.”
In Round One of eliminations, Wilk and his opponent, Steven Densham, both experienced track trouble. Densham ended up taking the win with a 5.380/135.29 pass to Wilkerson’s 7.949/129.11.
“The track wasn’t there this weekend, but we’re excited for next year,” said Wilkerson.
