Line Reaches Semifinals at U.S. Nationals

Jason Line made it to the semifinal round at the Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis, Indiana—the final race before the NHRA Countdown to the Championship begins. Line had low elapsed time of eliminations and top speed on race day.

In Round One of eliminations, Line defeated Shane Tucker with a 6.579 second/209.56 MPH pass to Tucker’s 6.653/203.92.

In Round Two against Jeg Coughlin, Line took the win, 6.597/209.14 to 6.623/208.04. In the semifinals, Erica Enders got the win on a holeshot. Enders .010 second reaction time and 6.627/207.56 pass beat Line’s .027 RT, 6.617/209.30.

“It was a good weekend, but not great,” Line said. “The important thing is we go into the Countdown with a fast car and a chance to win the first race.”

Line heads to the Countdown, third in the Pro Stocks points standings.

Greg Anderson made his best run of the weekend in Round One of eliminations. His 6.593/209.04 pass defeated KB Racing teammate Fernando Cuadra Jr.’s 6.677/208.23.

In Round Two against Erica Enders, Enders got the win with a 6.609/207.94 to Anderson’s 6.617/209.07.

“Our run in the first round was pretty respectable,” said Anderson. “Unfortunately, we slipped in the second round. But, we’re looking forward to the Countdown.”

Anderson goes into the Countdown fourth in the Pro Stock points standings.

Tim Wilkerson, driver of the Levi, Ray and Shoup Ford Shelby Mustang Nitro Funny Car secured his spot in the 12th consecutive NHRA Countdown.

Wilkerson had his day cut short in Round One of eliminations by Robert Hight. Hight took the win 3.891/326.48 to Wilk’s 4.438/193.65.

“We’re happy to be able to get in there [the Countdown] again,” said Wilkerson.

“Hopefully, we can win some rounds and get ourselves up in the middle. If we can do that, we’ll have a real chance to fight for the championship.”

Wilkerson goes into the Countdown 10th in the Funny Car points standings.
