Line Ready for Gatornationals
Jason Line has a very good relationship with Auto-Plus Raceway in Gainesville, Florida, site of this weekend’s 45th annual Amalie Oil NHRA Gatornationals. The 32-time national event winner got four of those wins in Gainesville—one in 2005 and three in a row from 2009-2011. In fact, Line has more Gatornationals Wallys than any is currently competing, full-time Pro Stock driver.
"The Summit Racing team likes that racetrack, that's for sure," said Line, noting that KB Racing teammate Greg Anderson has two Gainesville wins as well (2004 and 2007). “We spent some time earlier this week in Bradenton, not too far from Gainesville. Hopefully the conditions will be similar and what we learned in that test session will help us. I know that the Summit Racing guys go to Gainesville looking for more of what we've had there before, that's for sure!"
Line, began the 2014 season with a win at the Winternationals. At the second race two weeks ago in Phoenix, he qualified third and had a semi-final finish on race day. Line is currently second in the series standings. Line will arrive in Gainesville with an upgraded Chevrolet Camaro—the KB Racing team converted the car to a 2014 Camaro body with a noticeably sleeker front end.
"It's been an interesting year for this team so far," said Line. "I think we were all a little surprised to go out there and win Pomona with all that had gone on before the season even started. No one was distracted or discouraged, and I think that was a big factor. Now we need to do it again this weekend in Gainesville."
