Racer and TV Personality Jessi Combs Dies During Land Speed Record Attempt

Image/Facebook--Jessi Combs

Racer, car builder and automotive TV personality Jessi Combs died August 27 while piloting the North American Eagle Supersonic Speed Eagle to a new land speed record on the dry lake bed in Oregon's Alvord Desert. Combs was attempting to beat her own land speed record of 398 MPH, which she set in 2013 driving the same car.

Jessi is well-known for her work on several television series including All Girls Garage, Overhaulin’, Powerblock's Extreme 4x4, and Autoblog’s The List. She was also a damn good fabricator and welder, the very definition of what a true gearhead is.

PowerNation TV posted this video In honor of Jessi and her time as a co-host with Ian Johnson on Extreme 4x4.

You can learn more about Jessi in these stories at our OnAllCylinders blog, Hemmings, and Jalopnik.

The entire Summit Racing family is saddened by this loss to our automotive community, and we send our thoughts and prayers to Combs’ family and many friends.
