Semifinal Finish for Anderson and Line in Brainerd

Team Summit Racing drivers Greg Anderson and Jason Line made the semifinals on opposite sides of the ladder at the Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals. Both picked up valuable points for the NHRA’s 2018 Countdown to the Championship.

In Round One of eliminations, Greg Anderson recorded Top Speed of race day with a 6.652 second/207.88 MPH pass to defeat Jeg Coughlin Jr.’s 6.876/168.37. Round Two saw Anderson clock Low Elapsed Time (ET) and Top Speed of the round beating Erica Enders with a 6.631/207.34 pass to 6.636/206.73.

Anderson was stopped in the semifinals by Tanner Gray whose 6.629/207.02 pass topped Anderson’s 6.643/207.40.

“We didn’t get it done today, but it was great to have a team car [KB Racing] with Deric Kramer in the winner’s circle,” said Anderson. “He’s doing a great job out here.”

Anderson remains first in the Pro Stock points standings.

With just one more regular season race left before the Countdown to the Championship, Jason Line’s semifinals appearance moved him up two positions to seventh, and clinched him a Countdown spot.

In Round One, Line knocked out Drew Skillman, 6.630/207.15 to 6.717/205.94. In Round Two, his 6.639/207.15 pass defeated Mark Hogan’s 6.879/193.35.

In the semifnals, Line’s day was cut short by Deric Kramer’s 6.640/206.99 pass to his 6.673/206.83.

“We had some good fortune, just not enough to make the final round,” said Line. “There were certainly some highlights, like seeing my brother, Ben, win Stock Eliminator for the second year in a row. We’ll be ready for Indy, and the Countdown is going to be a lot of fun.”

Tim Wilkerson, driver of the Levi, Ray and Shoup Ford Shelby Mustang Nitro Funny Car, was able to move up in the Funny Car points standing to 10th.

In Round One of eliminations, Wilkerson defeated John Force with a 3.990/321.73 pass to Force’s troubled 6.208/121.33.

In Round Two, Wilk was defeated by Tommy Johnson Jr., 3.937/319.60 to
4.038/314.97.

“I’m happy about this weekend,” said Wilkerson. “We had a pretty consistent car. We’re going to go on to Indy and fight.”
