Team Summit Racing Makes Semifinal Round, Anderson Sets Top Speed for Fifth Time

Greg Anderson claimed Top Speed of the Meet at the Menards NHRA Heartland Nationals at Heartland Motorsports Park for the fifth consecutive time. Rain delays pushed Sunday’s eliminations into Monday, where Anderson and Jason Line both made the semifinals on opposite sides of the ladder.

In Round One of eliminations (the only round held on Sunday), Anderson’s 6.596 second/209.79 MPH pass was the low elapsed time and top speed up to that point.

He held on to the top speed on Monday in Round Two of eliminations with a 6.567/210.93 pass, defeating Drew Skillman’s 6.594/209.04 to advance to the semifinal round.

Anderson faced Erica Enders in the semifinals, but Enders took the win on the holeshot with a .003 second reaction time and 6.603/209.36 pass to Anderson’s 6.581/210.60 (.029 RT).

Jason Line defeated Alex Laughlin 6.611/208.97 to 7.736/125.65 in Round One of eliminations. He took the win again in Round Two against Richard Freeman with a 6.583/210.05 pass to Freeman’s 6.635/207.69.

Line faced Deric Kramer in the semifinal round, but Kramer’s better RT
(.006 second) gave him the win with a 6.600/209.49 pass to Line’s 6.580/210.11.

Kramer went on to get the win for KB Racing, earning his first Pro Stock victory against Erica Enders.

“We haven’t been as good as we need to be, but we went in the right direction for sure,” said Line. “We’ll do some testing in the next couple of weeks we’ll be better yet.”

Tim Wilkerson, driver of the Levi, Ray and Shoup Ford Shelby Mustang Nitro Funny Car, qualified ninth overall. Wilk faced Matt Hagan in Round One of eliminations, but exited early due to some engine trouble with a 4.024/314.31 pass to Hagan’s 3.942/326.79.

“The engine dropped a cylinder out there, around a hundred feet,” said Wilkerson. “I got through the trouble zone, and thought ‘it’s going to be fine.’ Then all of a sudden I felt it going to the right, and that’s all you get on seven holes—a 4.02.”
