Tim Wilkerson Makes Quarterfinals at NHRA Heartland Nationals

Tim Wilkerson, driver of the Levi, Ray and Shoup Ford Shelby Mustang Nitro Funny Car, made it to the quarterfinals at the Menards NHRA Heartland Nationals in Topeka, Kansas.

In Round One of eliminations, Wilkerson made a 3.983 second/297.35 MPH pass to defeat Jack Wyatt’s 4.368/235.80.

In Round Two, Wilkerson left the starting line ahead of Jack Beckman, but Beckman took the win, 3.940/325.45 to Wilk’s 3.956/320.58.

“We leaned on it a little harder in the second round, but the car didn’t quite respond how I thought it would,” said Wilkerson. “We still have a good car and I’m excited about that. We’re looking forward to Bristol.”

Wilkerson remains eighth in the Funny Car points standings.

Bo Butner made it to the semifinal round in the SAM Tech Factory Stock Showdown driving the Summit Racing Ford Racing Cobra Jet Mustang.

The Factory Stock Showdown is a specialty series that takes place at select NHRA events. It showcases drag-ready, factory-built cars produced by Ford, Chevy, and Dodge.

In Round One of eliminations, Butner left the starting line first with a .051 second reaction time and a 8.074/171.71 pass, to defeat David Janac’s .068 RT, 8.080/169.85. Butner’s elapsed time was the quickest of the round.

In Round Two, Butner faced Kevin Skinner. Although Skinner had the better .015 second reaction time, Butner closed the gap, taking the win with 7.983/174.28 to 7.998/172.54.

The semifinal round saw Stephen Bell get the win with a 7.950/173.45 run to Butner’s 7.977/174.48.

“We had a good weekend, but we need more testing. This class is just as tough as Pro Stock,” said Butner. “It’s fun being part of this because it’s so competitive.

Butner is currently second in the SAM Tech Factory Stock Showdown.

The next Showdown event in the series will take place at the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals in Norwalk, Ohio, June 20-23.
