Tough Race Day for Line and Anderson at the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals
Jason Line and Greg Anderson had a tough time during eliminations at the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals at Summit Racing Equipment Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio.
Line, who won the event in 2009 certainly hoped to go further on race day. He qualified eighth with a 6.564 second, 211.13 MPH pass, which gave him lane choice in the first round matchup with Jonathan Gray. While Line’s Summit Racing Camaro was quicker and faster, Gray’s .034 second starting line advantage proved decisive. Gray took the win, 6.619/209.98 to Line’s 6.591/210.83.
“It’s very disappointing to have a car like the Summit Racing Camaro and not come out on the winning end of the race,” said Line. “That’s a tough loss for me. You want to do better on a day like today. We can’t go back and change what happened, but we can move forward and work harder.”
“The bright side for us is that we had so much support here,” Line continued. “We’re grateful to all of the fans, friends, and family who were here cheering us on. It really means a lot to us, and we want to thank Summit Racing Equipment for everything this weekend. We’ll get our Summit Racing Camaro to the winner’s circle again soon.”
Line is currently fifth in the Pro Stock points standings.
Anderson Remains 11th in Points After Norwalk
Greg Anderson entered the weekend just outside of the Top 10 in the Mello Yello Drag Racing Series standings and was looking to move up a notch to secure his position to battle for a third Pro Stock championship title.
Anderson qualified tenth with a 6.566/211.26. He met up with Dave Connolly in Round One of eliminations. Anderson clocked a respectable 6.595/210.64, but Connolly combined a .028 second starting line advantage with a quicker 6.590/210.08 pass to take the win.
