Wilkerson Makes Semifinals at NHRA New England Nationals

Tim Wilkerson, driver of the Levi, Ray and Shoup Ford Shelby Mustang Nitro Funny Car, made it to the semifinal round at the NHRA New England Nationals in Epping, New Hampshire.

In Round One of eliminations, Wilkerson faced Tommy Johnson Jr. Although both drivers smoked the tires on the hot track, Wilkerson took the win with a
4.259 second/233.72 MPH pass over Johnson’s 4.559/186.38.

Wilkerson defeated J.R. Todd in Round Two. It was a close race, but Wilk won, 4.242/233.88 to Todd’s 4.274/229.12 pass.

In the semifinal round against Shawn Langdon, Wilkerson was fast but Langdon got the win, 4.006/320.36 to 4.053/315.56.

“It was so close,” said Wilkerson. “We’re pretty happy with that last run. It was a really good race—we were just on the wrong end of it. It’s going to be a different deal in Denver.”

Wilkerson is ninth in the Funny Car points standings.
