DX Engineering 8877 Ceramic Power Triodes (also known as 3CX1500A7) designed for use as a cathode-driven Class AB2 or Class B amplifier, in audio or RF applications, including VHF High band to 250 MHz. They may also serve as a cathode-driven Class C RF amplifier. Many RF power amplifiers have used these tubes over the years, such as the Ameritron AL-1500 Series, Alpha 77 Series and Alpha 9500.

When used as a linear amplifier, high power gain may be obtained without sacrifice of low intermodulation distortion. Their low IMD and high amplification factor combine to make drive requirements exceptionally low for tubes in this power class.

Many home brew amplifiers used these tubes due to their pull-out hamfest availability in the 1970s and 80s. Those sources have all vanished. Commercial or home brew, DX Engineering 8877 Ceramic Power Triodes will re-power your weak or dead 8877 amp!
