QRO.cz Classic Dual Output 2-Wire Bi-Directional Beverage Antenna Systems are designed for advanced receiving setups, particularly in contesting and multi-radio environments. This system features two SO-239 output connectors, each corresponding to a different direction. Both outputs are active simultaneously, allowing the antenna to receive signals from opposite directions at the same time.

This dual-output capability makes the system ideal for SO2R (Single Operator Two Radios) and MM (Multi-Multi) operations, where multiple radios or operators need to share directional antennas efficiently. Instead of switching directions manually or electronically, this design enables real-time, dual-direction reception, enhancing flexibility and performance in competitive or complex station configurations.

With careful design and construction, a single 2-wire beverage antenna can provide excellent performance in two directions. Unlike single-wire systems that use only a load resistor at the end, this system uses a transformer specifically designed to match the antenna’s impedance. All transformers in the system must be precisely calculated based on the antenna’s physical parameters—such as height, wire spacing, and wire diameter—to ensure optimal performance.

For best results, beverage antennas should be installed at least one wavelength away from large metallic structures like vertical antennas, towers, power lines, or electric fences. The antenna units can be mounted on trees, wooden poles, or fiberglass rods. Do not use metal pipes and never mount the unit with the connectors facing upward.

The parallel wire line used in the antenna must maintain perfectly balanced transmission line conditions. The wires should run parallel to the ground—not vertically stacked using single support poles. The closer the wire spacing, the lower the line’s impedance, which also reduces sensitivity to installation-related imbalances. When using ladder line (300 or 450 Ohm), it should be twisted multiple times along its length to maintain balance.
