Made with 14GA enameled copper wire, the Recon 40 v.2 is rated for use at up to 500W SSB, 300W CW, and 200W digital (50% duty cycle). The coil’s machined wire groove provides mechanical support and optimal spacing to ensure a low loss coil. Switching bands is made easy with the integrated weatherproof coil bypass switch. When you’re ready to move to the higher bands simply flip the switch and tune the telescoping whip to your desired frequency.

Along with its handy SO-239 connector, a standout feature of the new and improved Version 2 Recon 40 (REC40-II) is the integration of radial ports milled directly into the base of the antenna—eliminating the need for a separate radial puck. In the original model, users had to attach an external puck accessory to connect radials. Version 2 streamlines this process by building the functionality into the coil itself, enhancing both setup speed and field reliability. The integrated puck is precision-machined and supports up to eight 4mm banana plugs, allowing quick connection of REZ’s 4-wire radial kit and easy expansion of your radial field for improved ground performance and signal efficiency.

Four included quick-deploy 33-foot 18 gauge radials are quickly connected with 4mm banana plugs. Additional radial sets are available separately. Base and whip connections are standard 3/8-24-inch thread for interchangeability with other brand accessories.
